Other Projects

Theology Studies by Extension
CAPA, in partnership with Central Africa Baptist University (CABU) provides theological training to pastors in remote regions of Malawi who lack access to formal education due to language barriers, ministry demands, or financial limitations.

Translation
CAPA’s Translation Project exists to provide faithful Chichewa translations of trusted biblical and theological resources. Our goal is to equip pastors with sound, accessible tools for preaching and shepherding the church, while also offering resources that serve the broader body of Christ.

Grace and Truth Media Ministry
Grace and Truth is CAPA’s media ministry that airs biblical preaching and teaching across Malawi through Radio and TV. It exists to proclaim the truth, point people to sound churches, and connect pastors to CAPA’s training. The ministry also produces and distributes sermons, conference recordings, and other content online to strengthen the church in Malawi and beyond.
Our Timeline
Official Start
CAPA had its official start in 2014, but its roots go further back to the planting of International Bible Fellowship Church (IBF Church) in 2007. The first intake of students was at the Diploma level, and soon was added a Master’s of Divinity degree. At its height, CAPA was offering formal training at various levels (Diploma, Bachelor’s, and M.Div.).
COVID19 Pademic
In 2020, COVID-19 forced Malawi's schools to close, affecting missionary leadership and faculty at CAPA. In early 2021, CAPA reopened, holding a graduation for Diploma and MDiv students. The period was significant, leading to new ministry positions and a small staff. The school remained in existence but not admitting students until a fresh start could be made.
Fresh Start
Men from IBF Church, Reformation Bible Church, and Grace Bible Church came together to talk about the future of CAPA. The pastors of these like-minded churches in Lilongwe were trained at TMAI schools (Christ Seminary in South Africa and CAPA in Malawi) and they were eager to see training at CAPA recommence. CAPA had a small staff and a building recently completed- why not start with something small? They planned a series of one-day pastoral workshops, reaching out to CAPA alumni and the broader Lilongwe community.
CAPA Now!
With a united team and the support of TMAI, we continue to make strong progress toward accreditation. Our focus this year has been meeting all requirements for full registration, including the development of our facilities. We are prayerfully working toward receiving accreditation before the end of the year. Alongside this, we continue to host conferences and deliver remote training to equip pastors in their local contexts.
Central African Preaching Academy
We exist to exalt Christ and strengthen His church in Africa by training pastors to understand, live out, and effectively communicate God’s Word.
My first desire was to learn Greek and Hebrew, because I want to teach my fellow Malawians how to study God’s Word, present it, and live it out.
This is the greatest need we have in our country: preachers and teachers of the Word of God who can teach the Word correctly. But how can one teach correctly if he or she has not been taught correctly? …CAPA is the answer to the need!
CAPA is not just there to train you to become a good pastor or good preacher. No, CAPA is also there to help you have the correct understanding of your own salvation and how you’re supposed to live as a child of God.
