In January, we had the incredible privilege of representing the Central African Preaching Academy (CAPA) at the Global Resources and Training Initiative meeting (GRTI) in Dubai. This gathering brought together publishers and ministry leaders from around the world, providing us with a unique opportunity to learn, connect, and refine our vision for resourcing pastors in Malawi.
One of the most exciting takeaways from this experience was the importance of translation in making theological resources more accessible. As we embark on our own translation efforts at CAPA, it was both inspiring and instructive to learn from those who have been doing this work for years. The insights and partnerships we gained are already proving invaluable as we seek to equip pastors with biblically sound materials in their native language.
Leveraging Technology for Biblical Resources
A key highlight of the meeting was the emphasis on technology—especially AI—as a powerful tool for translation for biblical resources. AI offers exciting possibilities for improving both accuracy and efficiency in resource development, making it easier to bring solid theological resources to more people.
As CAPA expands its work, we are not just integrating AI into our translation efforts—we are actively refining it. Using Smartcat, our AI-powered translation software, has been a learning process. While we faced challenges in the beginning, we’ve seen steady improvement as we train the system with each project. The more we use it, the more accurate and efficient it becomes. This means that in the future, AI will not only assist in translation but will play a crucial role in accelerating and enhancing the entire process, making theological resources even more accessible
Current and Upcoming Projects
Currently, we’ve been making significant strides in our resource development:
Completed: Expository Study by Joe James
work in Progress: Fundamentals of the Faith by John MacArthur
Upcoming: God’s Design for the Church by Conrad Mbewe
Each of these projects is part of our commitment to equipping pastors with strong biblical foundations. We believe that providing well-translated, theologically rich materials will strengthen churches across Malawi.
Looking Ahead
The Dubai experience was a blessing, opening doors to new opportunities and collaborations. With our growing network of partners and the advancements in translation and technology, we are more excited than ever about the future of CAPA.
Thank you for your prayers and support—God is at work, and we are eager to see how He continues to use CAPA to equip faithful men for gospel ministry!
